Synopsis

Financial Technology, or FinTech, is transforming the global economy. Governments and firms are utilising new technologies like mobile payments, blockchain, and digital banking, to more efficiently deliver financial services to consumers and businesses. Yet, many students with an interest in FinTech do not have the opportunities to learn about occupations in this sector, and lack the knowledge of how to best position themselves to be a part of it. Therefore, Advisory hopes to connect students with an interest in FinTech with professionals in the field.

Event Format

  • Panel with Young Professionals

To kickoff, we’ll begin with 4 – 6 young professionals. Each speaker will have 2 minutes to share about their occupation and background, followed by a moderated Q&A as a brief introduction to the work they do.

  • Breakout Sessions with Young Professionals

After this initial taster, you will be broken into small groups, with each group given 10 minutes to sit down with each young professional in a round-robin fashion. You will be able to ask questions directly to these professionals, and engage them on the issues you would like to learn more about.

  • Senior Professionals Panel

To cap off the day, we will have a keynote session with senior members of the industry from the public and private sectors, to give an overview of what the FinTech sector is like, what it means for Singapore, and how you can best prepare for careers in FinTech.

  • Refreshments & Networking

Sometimes you may be shy, and hesitant to ask questions during panel sessions. This networking session serves as an informal time for our speakers to interact with you and the other speakers. With the current push towards Zero Waste in Singapore, we strongly encourage you to bring your own cutlery (fork, spoon, and plate) for the refreshments.
